Description
This rattan pendant light is hand-woven, strand by strand, in rattan and bamboo. Lit, it lets light through the gaps in the weave and throws a web of soft shadows onto the ceiling. Off, it brings the warmth of a natural material. Its 16-inch (40 cm) diameter suits a round table, a bedroom or a reading nook, and its black cord, matching the canopy, draws a graphic line beneath the ceiling. It is for bohemian, Japandi or simply warm interiors.
Design & materials of a woven rattan pendant light
Rattan and bamboo are supple plant fibers worked by hand. Each rattan pendant therefore shows slight variations in the weave: that is the mark of a handmade object, not a flaw.
The open weave plays a double role. It filters the light, softening the glare of the bulb, and it draws patterns on nearby walls. The black cord and canopy draw a crisp line that contrasts with the blond fiber and echoes the black metal of a chair or table leg. The tone of the fiber pairs with linen, bouclé wool, light wood, terracotta and green plants. A rattan pendant lamp this size dresses a room without crowding it visually.
The light
The socket is E27, the most common type. The bulb is not included: choose an LED, which runs cool, better next to natural fibers.
For a cozy mood, choose warm white at 2700 K. A clear filament bulb sharpens the shadows of the weave; an opaque bulb gives a more diffused halo. The fixture does not take a dimmer: a standard switch is all you need.
Where to put this rattan light fixture
In a dining room, center it over a round table 35 to 43 in (90 to 110 cm) across. For a 71 in (180 cm) rectangular table, line up two, spaced 28 to 31 in (70 to 80 cm) apart.
In a bedroom, hang it above the bed or off to the side to replace a bedside lamp. In a living room, this woven rattan light fixture lights a reading nook with a linen armchair. Size & installation
This model is 16 in (40 cm) in diameter. It hangs from a cord and connects to mains power, 90–260 V. Switch off the breaker before any work and call an electrician if you are not comfortable.
- Over a table, leave 28 to 31 in (70 to 80 cm) between the top and the bottom of the shade.
- In a walkway, keep at least 6.5 ft (2 m) of clearance under the pendant.
- Tools: screwdriver, wire stripper, sturdy step ladder.
Check that your ceiling mounting point is in good condition before hanging the fixture.
Care
Switch off the power and let the bulb cool. Dust the weave with a dry brush or the vacuum's brush attachment on low. Avoid water: natural fibers dislike humidity. A very dry room can make them brittle, a very damp one can warp them.

Bought two for over our long table, spaced about 75 cm apart as suggested. They look gorgeous together and the light through the weave is so soft. Best update we've made to the kitchen.

We swapped a plain white lampshade in our bedroom for this and the whole room feels warmer, even in the daytime when it's off. At night the light comes through the gaps in the weave and makes soft patterns on the walls. I used a warm white LED bulb. The black cord and canopy look sharp against our white ceiling and tie in with the black bed frame. Really happy with it.

I'll start by saying I love this pendant. The weave is lovely, you can see little irregularities that make it feel natural rather than mass produced, and the blond color of the rattan works beautifully with our light wood table and green chairs. Hung over the dining table it gives a soft, warm light and throws the nicest shadows. With a clear filament bulb the patterns are really defined, which is what I wanted. Four stars because it took a while to arrive, longer than the estimate, and the outer box had a big dent in one corner. Thankfully the shade itself was fine, the packaging inside held up. Brought the room to life
Our dining room felt cold with a very basic ceiling light. We hung this over the round table, which is about 100 cm across, and it's the perfect size. Our electrician fitted it and set the height for us.
