LED Mirrors & Lighted Mirrors

Light placed exactly where you need it: on your face.

An LED mirror brings glass and lighting together in one object: the light falls on your face without casting shadows, and the wall stays clear. We offer anti-fog rectangles from 20 × 24 to 24 × 31 in (50 × 60 to 60 × 80 cm), a backlit round mirror of 20 or 24 in (50 or 60 cm) with a clock, a backlit anti-fog oval, and a 24 in (60 cm) LED light to mount above an existing mirror. Beyond the bathroom, a mirror with lights also belongs on a vanity, with the Hollywood mirror and its bulbs and the lighted 10x magnifier, both among our makeup mirrors; for a full length view, pair a floor mirror with a well-placed lamp.

Backlit, front-lit or add-on light: three ways to light a mirror

A backlit mirror sends its light toward the wall: it draws a halo behind the glass and creates a soft mood, ideal in the evening. A front-lit mirror has frosted strips on its face: the light comes toward you and genuinely lights your face. That is the choice for shaving or makeup. A third option, an LED light for a bathroom mirror, mounts above glass that has no lighting of its own. Finally, the Hollywood mirror surrounds the face with points of light and removes shadows under the eyes.

Color temperature and visual comfort

Color temperature is measured in kelvins. Between 2700 and 3000 K, light is warm, close to an incandescent bulb: pleasant, but it distorts makeup shades. Around 4000 K it is neutral and true, the most accurate value in front of a mirror. Above 5000 K it turns cool and more clinical. If a model offers several temperatures, the product page says so. To judge a foundation shade, also look at the color rendering index: a CRI of 90 or more renders skin tones faithfully. Keep in mind that illuminated mirrors complement the ceiling light; they do not replace it.

Anti-fog, touch switch, Bluetooth: what they are for

The anti-fog system is a heating pad attached behind the glass. It keeps an area clear when you step out of the shower, which makes a real difference in a poorly ventilated bathroom. A touch switch built into the glass saves you from hunting for a wet button. Bluetooth models play music from your phone; our backlit round mirror has a clock instead, handy in the morning. For simpler use, a well-sized model with no extras gives the same lighting.

Installation and electrical safety

Depending on the model, the mirror is wired to a wall junction box or plugs into an outlet. Before any work, switch off the circuit at the breaker panel. In a bathroom, respect the zones: under European rules, within 24 in (60 cm) of a shower or tub the fixture must be at least IPX4, and IP44 is still recommended everywhere else in the room. Local codes differ. Check the rating and class on the product page, and leave the wiring to an electrician if you are not sure.

What size LED mirror for the bathroom?

The rules are the same as for a plain mirror: the glass should not be wider than the vanity. A 20 × 24 or 20 × 28 in (50 × 60 or 50 × 70 cm) LED wall mirror suits a 24 in (60 cm) vanity, a 24 × 31 in (60 × 80 cm) a vanity of 28 to 31 in (70 to 80 cm), and a 20 or 24 in (50 or 60 cm) round a vanity of 24 to 31 in (60 to 80 cm). Place the center of the glass at about 63 in (160 cm) from the floor. Our guide to bathroom mirrors covers heights and proportions in detail.

Beyond the bathroom

In a bedroom, an LED mirror above a dresser works as both mirror and accent light. In a living room, a 24 in (60 cm) backlit round can stand in for a wall sconce: switched on alone in the evening, it draws a circle of warm light on the wall. On a vanity, a freestanding LED makeup mirror moves wherever you need it.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Sizes, hanging heights, light, shipping: answers to the questions we hear most.

Still have a question? Get in touch
01What color temperature is best for an LED mirror?
Around 4000 K, light is neutral and renders colors faithfully: the best setting for makeup and shaving. Light at 2700 to 3000 K is warmer and softer, pleasant in the evening but less true to color.
02How does an anti-fog mirror work?
A heating pad is attached to the back of the glass. It raises the glass temperature slightly, which stops steam from condensing on it. Depending on the model, it turns on with the light or with a separate control; the product page explains how.
03Do I need an electrician to install an LED mirror?
A plug-in model installs like a regular mirror. A hardwired model connected to a junction box requires electrical knowledge, especially in a bathroom. If in doubt, call an electrician, who will also check the safety zones.
04Is a backlit mirror good enough for makeup?
Not always. Backlighting creates a lovely halo on the wall but puts little light on your face. For makeup, choose a front-lit mirror with light strips, a Hollywood mirror with bulbs or a freestanding lighted makeup mirror.
05What IP rating does an LED bathroom mirror need?
Under European rules, within 24 in (60 cm) of a shower or tub, a fixture must be at least IPX4. Farther away, IP44 is still advised because of steam. The rating is on each product page; check it, and your local code, before buying.
