This vintage mushroom lamp brings back the rounded silhouette of 1970s lighting, in a burgundy deeper than the classic orange mushroom lamp. Its domed cap sits on a base of stacked balls, and it settles on a nightstand, a shelf or a coffee table, where it leaves a low, muted glow. Cordless thanks to its rechargeable battery, it is for lovers of warm colors who want ambient light where no outlet is within reach.
Design and materials of this retro mushroom lamp
The body combines metal and ABS, a rigid plastic that keeps the color even across the whole cap. Under the cap, the base stacks spheres like bubbles, which gives the lamp a round, cheerful outline. The burgundy, somewhere between red wine and plum, takes on the shine of 70s lacquer on its glossy surface. It works with walnut, cognac leather, corduroy, travertine and terracotta. Size and installation
To give you a sense of scale, it ships in a 12 × 8 × 6.5 in (31 × 21 × 17 cm) box weighing 1.5 lb (0.66 kg) with packaging: an accent lamp sized for a nightstand, a console or a shelf. No installation is needed. Fully charge the battery before first use on a 5 V power supply, then set the lamp wherever you like. Choose a flat, stable surface away from the edge of a busy table, and charge it away from a radiator or any heat source.
Care
With the lamp off, dust the cap and base with a soft, dry cloth; for a mark, use a barely damp cloth and dry it right away. Avoid solvents and abrasive cleaners, which dull ABS. To look after the battery, recharge it before it runs completely flat.

My cosy corner

Bought this for our anniversary because my wife has a thing for mushroom lamps and already owns two. She was thrilled with the colour, she didn't have a burgundy one. It's on the shelf above the TV now with the others and the three of them together look really good. Light is warm and low. Packaging was very good, nothing moved in the box at all. i wasn't sure about burgundy vs the usual orange but im really glad i went with this. its darker and more grown up somehow. lives on my bedside table and i turn it on when i get into bed, then off when im falling asleep. its not for reading, the listing is clear about that, but as a calm little light its exactly right. the shiny cap and the little balls underneath are so cute

Mom's birthday
My mum grew up in the seventies and has been complaining for years that all the lamps in the shops look the same. I found this and thought the shape and colour would take her right back. My flat is an old conversion and there is exactly one socket in the living room, behind the sofa, so I gave up on lamps years ago. A cordless one seemed like the answer. I charge it during the day on the kitchen counter and then carry it wherever I am in the evening. Usually it's the side table next to my armchair, sometimes the bathroom shelf when I'm in the bath. The light is low and warm, it won't light a room, but that's not what I wanted it for. The colour is the real star. It's a proper deep burgundy with a lacquer shine, and against my terracotta cushions it looks like it was bought for them. The base of little balls is sweet without being silly. Lovely little thing and I'm already thinking of a second one for the bedroom.

Bedroom finally feels warm
My bedroom is mostly white and gray and felt a bit like a hotel room. I added this on one nightstand with a plain reading lamp on the other side, which is what the listing recommends, and the room suddenly has some personality. Ordered this as a birthday present for my partner who collects retro bits. Tracking sat on the same status for days and I was sweating it a bit with the date coming up. I'll be honest, I didn't read the listing properly and assumed I could read in bed with it. It says clearly it's under 60 lumens and it really is a soft ambient glow, so that's on me. Now it's on my nightstand next to a brighter lamp, exactly like the description suggests, and I switch the big one off and leave this on while I wind down.
