Description
Among outdoor nautical lights, this one borrows the silhouette of a ship's porthole, in a gold finish. Mounted by a front door or on a patio, it evokes fishermen's cabins and harbor houses. Its die-cast aluminum body, rated IP54, is designed for outdoor use. It is made for anyone who wants to give their facade a vacation feel, on the ocean or in the countryside.
Design and materials of these nautical exterior lights
The body is die-cast aluminum, a process that gives a sturdy piece with crisp edges. Its gold finish imitates the brass of ship fittings and takes on real depth in sunlight as in evening light. Its porthole shape is recognizable at first glance: it is the light of docks and ship passageways. This nautical style outdoor wall light pairs with painted wood siding, blue shutters, whitewashed walls and pale stone.
The light
The light takes a single bulb, not included. For a warm welcome, choose a 2700 K LED, which makes the gold finish glow. A frosted bulb gives a softer light, a clear bulb a sharper sparkle. The light is not dimmable; a moderate wattage is enough to light an entrance or a patio and find the lock after dark.
Where to put nautical outdoor wall lights
At the entrance, mount one on each side of the door to frame the facade and welcome your guests. On a covered patio or a sunroom, two or three lights lined up along a wall create ambient light for summer dinners. On a garden shed or a garage, it adds a functional nautical touch above the door. Among coastal light fixtures, more styles are in our outdoor wall lights.

Size and installation
The light mounts to the wall and connects to the house wiring. Turn off the power at the breaker, use anchors suited to your facade and run the cable through conduit rated for outdoor use. Mount it about 71 in (1.80 m) from the ground beside the door, on the lock side. An outdoor connection needs a line protected by a GFCI/RCD; if in doubt, have an electrician install it.
Care
Turn off the power and let the bulb cool. Clean the light with a soft cloth and soapy water, then dry. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which would scratch the gold finish. By the sea, rinse it regularly with clean water to remove salt.

Wife wanted something with character for the front door. This was a good pick, looks lovely with a warm bulb, and our electrician had it up in no time.

Holiday feel at home
Our house is nowhere near the sea but I've always loved that fishermen's cottage look. This light by the front door gives me a bit of that every time I come home. The gold finish catches the evening sun beautifully. It's on mains wiring so we had our electrician fit it, which took him less than an hour. I chose a clear filament bulb for a bit of sparkle.Gold

Installed two of these on the back wall of our covered patio. With warm bulbs they make summer dinners outside feel like a holiday. Solid aluminium body, nice finish.

Coastal and charming
bought this for my parents' new place by the sea. Dad had it wired in next to the front door and it looks like it's always been there. Mum loves the brass look of the gold finish.Gold

Great porch light
it's by our front door at about 1.8m, lock side like the listing suggests, and now I can actually find my keys at night. looks lovely too, very nauticalGold

Ordered for the garage door. It adds a bit of fun to what was a very plain wall, and it gives enough light to see the lock in the dark.

Boat house vibes
We live on a canal and our house has a bit of a boathouse look, so this porthole light felt right. Got the electrician to mount one by the door and another by the side gate. The gold finish is nice and warm, especially with a frosted LED bulb at night. Light enough to fit easily on our render with the right anchors. Looks the part.Gold

We have blue painted wood cladding on our house and this gold light looks amazing against it. Went with a frosted warm bulb so the light is soft and not glaring when guests arrive.

Fitted it above the shed door myself as I'm an electrician. Easy job.

Exactly the nautical look
I've been renovating the front of our house and wanted the lights to have character rather than be the usual black boxes. This gold porthole light was the one. The body is die-cast aluminium, and it feels sturdy with nice sharp edges on the casting. The finish is a gold that imitates brass, and in the evening, with a 2700K LED, it looks really warm. We have two, one on each side of the door, at the same height and distance from the frame. The electrician fitted both on a protected outdoor circuit and ran the cables through conduit, which took a morning. Bulbs aren't included, so I ordered frosted ones in advance so we could switch on straight away. The porch overhang keeps most of the rain off and they look as good as the day they went up. Our front door is navy and the combination with the gold is lovely. Very happy with how the entrance looks now, it feels welcoming every time we pull into the drive.Gold

Pretty, but needed an electrician
Really like the look of this, the gold porthole style suits our whitewashed wall. Three stars because the wiring was beyond me and we had to wait a fortnight for an electrician. Expect that cost.Gold

Thanks Madeline. Outdoor wiring really is a job for a professional, and we're glad it's looking good on your wall now.

We bought a little cottage near the coast last year and have slowly been doing it up. The old outside light was a plastic box that had gone yellow, and I wanted something that suited the blue shutters and white painted walls. This porthole light is exactly the feel I was after. It's die-cast aluminium with a gold finish that looks like old ship brass, though it's a lot lighter to handle than brass would be. Our electrician mounted it next to the door on the lock side, at about 1.8 meters, and ran the cable through outdoor conduit. I put in a frosted 2700K LED bulb, bought separately, and in the evening the gold glows softly and the entrance feels so welcoming. We're close enough to the sea to get salt in the air, so I give it a rinse with fresh water every so often as the care notes suggest. It's been on the wall through a lot of weather under our small porch roof. Neighbours have asked where it came from twice now.
