Description
These solar outdoor wall lights with sensor charge their battery in the sun during the day and switch on when they detect movement in front of them. The 100 LEDs light up a front door, a gate or a garden path clearly, with no cable to run. IP65 rating, ABS housing: it is built for the outdoors. It is the answer for anyone who wants to light an entrance, a patio or a shed without any electrical work.
Design & materials
The ABS housing, a rigid plastic, brings together the solar panel, the battery and the 100 LEDs in a compact unit. It is protected against dust and water jets, as its IP65 rating states. No wire, no transformer: everything is built in. The line stays functional and discreet, designed to go unnoticed on a facade and only show itself at nightfall. Unlike a hardwired fixture, this solar LED wall light with motion sensor goes where no wiring reaches: at the end of the garden, on a shed, by a side gate or a bike store.
The light
The 100 LEDs run on a lithium battery, included, which the solar panel recharges every day. When someone walks by, the motion sensor switches the light on just when you need it. This bright light is not meant for ambience: it is there to help you find a lock, take a step or put a bike away. As with all solar powered outdoor wall lights, run time depends on sunshine: after a gray day, the charge will be lower.
Where to put solar outdoor wall lights with sensor
By the front door, place it next to the frame on the lock side, to light your hand and keys. Along a path, fit two or three on a low wall or fence, every 10 to 13 ft (3 to 4 m), to mark the way. Among solar LED wall lights outdoors, it is handy on a shed or garage, so you are not hunting for a switch with your arms full. For the main entrance, where you also want a handsome object, browse our decorative outdoor wall lights.

Size & installation of wall mounted solar lights outdoors
A single model is offered, with 100 LEDs. Compact and light, with a package of about 5 oz (150 g), it mounts to the wall with screws and anchors suited to your facade: brick, concrete, wood or render. Choose a spot that gets several hours of direct sun a day, ideally facing south or west, with no roof overhang shading the panel. Mount it 6 to 7 ft (1.8 to 2.2 m) high: high enough to cover the entrance, low enough for the sensor to pick up people passing. No electrical connection is needed.
Care
Wipe the solar panel every month with a damp cloth: dust, pollen and leaves reduce charging. Clean the sensor lens too, so it stays responsive. No pressure washer or abrasive cleaner on the housing. If the light fades noticeably after several seasons, the battery is probably reaching the end of its life.

We've a garage at the side of the house and no outdoor power anywhere near it. This was the cheap and easy fix. Up in no time, and it comes on whenever we pull in or walk past.

Bike store sorted
We keep the bikes in a wooden store at the bottom of the garden and coming home late in winter meant fumbling around with a phone torch. Screwed this to the side of the store where it gets sun most of the day and now it switches on as soon as you walk up. Bright enough to see the padlock and the bikes clearly. No cable to run across the lawn, which was the whole point.100 LED

Great for the patio
Fitted two on the wall above our patio. They come on as soon as we step out in the evening, which is handy when taking out the dog. Charge well in sunny weather.100 LED

We rent our house and weren't allowed to do any electrical work outside, but the landlord was fine with a few small holes for screws. Our front path was pitch black and with two young kids, coming home after dark was a juggling act. I put one of these by the front door on the lock side and another on the low wall halfway down the path. Our wall faces south and gets a good amount of sun, so they charge well. As soon as we walk up, they come on and light the path and the door. The light is bright and white, it's not for mood, it's to see where you're going, and that's what we needed. They're small and plain so they don't look out of place on the house. We've had heavy rain on that wall and they've carried on working. I wipe the panels when I remember. Very happy, especially for the price.

Side gate finally lit
Our side gate is at the far end of the house where there's no power at all, and getting an electrician to run a cable out there was going to cost a fortune. This was the obvious answer. I mounted it on the brick pillar next to the gate at about two meters, as the listing suggests, with a couple of masonry anchors and screws. Took ten minutes. The wall faces west so it gets the afternoon sun, and it charges well. When anyone walks up to the gate in the dark, it comes on and you can actually see the latch and where you're putting your feet. It's bright, properly bright, so it's a working light rather than a pretty one, which is exactly what I wanted. It's been through plenty of rain already and carries on. I've since bought a second one for the shed.100 LED

Does the job
Bright, simple, no wires. Up on the garage in minutes.100 LED

Easy to fit on our render with the right anchors. It switches on as soon as someone walks up the drive and switches off on its own after. Can't beat it for no wiring.

three stars for the order rather than the light. Delivery was much slower than I expected and the parcel turned up with the packaging split open, though the light itself was undamaged and everything was there. The instructions are also very short, so I had to guess the best height until I read the listing again. Once it was up on the shed, it works well. It comes on when I walk out and it's plenty bright to see what I'm doing.

Sorry for the slow delivery and the split parcel, Harrison. Good to hear the light arrived intact and is lighting up the shed now.

No wires needed
Lit up my back door in ten minutes, no electrician. Brilliant.100 LED

Fine, just very functional
Bright and does its job by the gate. Three stars because I'd hoped for something prettier for the front of the house, but the listing does say it's a practical light. I'll use it round the back instead.100 LED
Opalyne replied
Thanks Amaya, that's a fair point. It's built as a practical light, and round the back by a gate or shed is where it shines.

we have a long side passage between our house and the neighbors with no light at all, and its where we keep the bins. I put this halfway down on the brick wall, where it gets afternoon sun. its very light and two screws held it fine. Now when we go out to the bins at night it switches on as we approach and lights the whole passage. its a white, bright light, very practical. Totally worth it for the small price!

Practical little light
I bought this for the back of our house where the path to the compost bins runs. It's compact and light, so hanging it with two screws was easy. The panel faces west and catches the afternoon sun. Comes on when you walk past and gives plenty of light to see the path. On a dull day it doesn't have quite as much charge, which the listing mentions, but it still does the job.100 LED

Works well but took ages to arrive, tracking barely moved.

Perfect for no power spots
I'm fairly handy but I didn't fancy running cable through the wall to the back of the garden, so solar was the way to go. This light is straightforward: an ABS plastic housing with the panel on top, the battery and LEDs built in, and a motion sensor. I mounted it at around 1.9 metres on the shed wall that faces south. It needs a sunny spot, as the instructions stress, and ours gets most of the day. When I walk down the garden at night it comes on and lights the shed door and the path. It's not decorative, it's a work light, and it does that job well. It's come through a lot of wind and rain already. Wipe the panel once in a while to keep it charging well. For the money and zero wiring, it's hard to beat.100 LED

Great by the front door
Put it next to the door frame on the lock side. When I come home with shopping it comes on and I can see my keys. Charges well on our south facing wall.100 LED
-
Does exactly what it says when it gets sun. My fault, I first put it under the porch roof where the panel was in shade, so the charge was low. Moved it out a bit and it's much better.

Opalyne replied
Thanks for sharing that, Hadley. Shade from a roof overhang is the most common culprit, so it's great you found a sunnier spot.

Bought this for my dad's back door as he's not steady on his feet in the dark. Now the step lights up as soon as he opens the door and walks out. He's delighted and so am I!!!

my mom lives alone and her front path was very dark, wich worried me. I didn't want her paying an electrician, so I got her this and fitted it next to her door myself in about fifteen minutes. Her wall gets lots of sun and it lights up whenever she or a visitor walks up. She feels much safer now, and so do I.
