Description
This industrial wall sconce revives the metal reflector of old workshops: a white cone shade, held by a curved black metal arm and aimed down. It cuts a crisp cone of light on the wall that highlights a brick backsplash, a countertop or a headboard. With its E27 socket, it leaves room for exposed filament bulbs. It is for lovers of loft style, who like the contrast of black and white, raw wood and honest metal.
Design & materials of a black industrial wall light
The sconce is entirely painted metal: the arm, backplate and socket in black, the reflector in white. The line is direct: a curved arm, a flared reflector, no molding. That restraint gives this industrial sconce its character, and lets it move from a kitchen to a home office without looking out of place. The black arm draws a graphic line on the wall, while the white reflector lightens the silhouette and blends into pale paint or lime plaster. Pair it with oak, worn leather or black steel shelves to carry the workshop spirit further.
The light
The sconce takes an E27 bulb, not included, and is not dimmable. The reflector turns the light down: this industrial sconce lighting is accent or task lighting, not a diffuse ambient source. An LED filament bulb at 2200 to 2700 K gives the amber glow of the vintage spirit. For reading or cooking, choose a crisper 3000 K LED.
Where to put an industrial wall sconce
In a kitchen, line up two or three sconces above the backsplash, 24 to 31 in (60 to 80 cm) apart, to light the counter. In a bedroom, a pair on each side of the bed replaces bedside lamps and frees the nightstands. In an entryway, a single industrial wall lamp above a wooden console and one of our black mirrors is enough to set the scene. Discover more models in our wall sconces.

Size & installation
- Mounting: wall backplate, assembly required on delivery.
- Connection: wall junction box.
- Direction: reflector aimed down.
Switch off the breaker before wiring the sconce, and have an electrician make the connection if in doubt. You will need a drill, anchors suited to the wall and a level to align the backplate. Above a countertop, mount it 20 to 24 in (50 to 60 cm) above the surface; in an entryway or hallway, around 67 in (170 cm) from the floor, so the cone lights the way without glare.
Care
With the lamp off and cool, dust the metal with a dry or slightly damp cloth, then dry. Avoid scouring pads and solvent-based products, which mark the paint, especially the white. Remember to clean the inside of the reflector, where dust dulls the light.

Simple and well made
Fitted this over the workbench in my home office, where I do a lot of model painting. With a 3000 K bulb the light is clear and focused straight down, no shadows from my own head. It's all metal and feels sturdy, and wiring took me about twenty minutes with the breaker off. Very good value.Black arm, white shade

so i've been redoing our kitchen bit by bit and lighting was the last thing on the list. i wanted something industrial but not too heavy and these are spot on. we have two over the counter, mounted roughly 55cm above it like the page says, and they light the worktop really well for cooking. the black and white combo goes with everything, our handles are black and the walls are white so it all ties together. my brother in law is an electrician so he wired them for us, took him no time. we used warm filament bulbs, wich look amazing in the evening with the main light off. definately getting another for the hallway

Light points down so no glare at all in the hallway, perfect.

The white shade against the black arm is such a clean contrast.

Mounted one above a wooden console with a round mirror, like the description suggests, and the entryway finally looks put together. The light falls on the console and catches the mirror nicely.

bought two for my studio apartment, one over the kitchen bit and one over the desk. same style ties the whole room together and the light is nice and focused.

i'd pictured the shade a bit larger from the photos, but it's in proportion with the arm and looks good. Four stars for that, still really happy with it in the bed room

Perfect above my desk, the light falls right where I'm working.

id been after this exact look for our hallway for ages and most of the ones I found were twice the price. Had the electrician fit it at about 170 cm next to the coat rack and it lights the floor without glaring in your eyes. The white inside the shade bounces the light nicely. Painted finish is smooth and even

Three stars because the delivery was a bit of a saga. The parcel was stuck at the depot for days and nobody could tell me why. When it finally came, the box was scuffed but the sconce inside was fine. Fitted it above the bench in our hallway and it looks great, simple and well finished.

Our cottage kitchen needed something a bit more modern without losing the character, and these did the job. Two sconces over the worktop, roughly 70 cm apart, with warm filament bulbs. In the evening it's like a little café in there. Fitting was done by our electrician along with a few other bits. The black paint is smooth and the white shade is easy to wipe.

Reading by the bed
Swapped our bedside lamps for a pair of these. The light comes straight down onto my book and doesn't keep my partner awake on the other side.Black arm, white shade

i live in a small apartment and wanted a reading light without a lamp on my side table. this sconce is perfect, mounted it about 60cm above my mattress and the light comes down right on my book. the black arm looks so cool against my sage wall. had to get the landlords handyman to wire it but it was worth it

Bought three for above our kitchen counter after the renovation. Really happy with how they look, the black and white against our white metro tiles is very sharp, and the downward light is great for chopping and prepping. We spaced them about 70 cm apart as recommended and mounted them roughly 55 cm above the worktop. Four stars only because none of us realized they'd need wiring into junction boxes, we'd assumed that bit was already sorted, so we had to get the electrician back for a second visit. Completely our planning, not the light. With 3000 K bulbs the counter is bright and clear, and for dinner we switch the overhead off and they give a nice pool of light.

Exactly the loft feel I wanted
My partner and I bought our first flat this year, in an old converted mill with big windows and exposed brick. We wanted lighting that matched the building rather than fighting it, and these industrial sconces were perfect. We have one above the console in the entry with a black mirror next to it, and two in the bedroom either side of the bed at about 65 cm above the mattress. They replaced our bedside lamps and we finally have space on the nightstands for books. The black arm and backplate are crisp and the white shade keeps them from feeling too heavy. Our electrician fitted all three in one visit. Bulbs aren't included, we went for warm filament ones and the glow at night is lovely.Black arm, white shade

Kitchen glow up
We have an exposed brick wall behind our cooker and these sconces were made for it. The cone of light grazes the brick and makes the texture really stand out at night. We used 2700 K filament bulbs for the amber look, and they still give enough light for cooking. Friends always ask about them.Black arm, white shade

Used a filament bulb and it gives that warm workshop glow. Love it.
