Description
This globe floor lamp raises a white opal glass ball 63 in (160 cm) above the floor, carried by a slim metal stem in a gold finish. Switched on, the milky glass spreads the light over its whole surface and bathes the seating area in a soft glow, with no glaring hot spot. It is meant for anyone looking for a sculptural yet calm fixture, for a japandi, Scandinavian or warm modern interior. It lights about 55 to 110 sq ft (5 to 10 m²) and takes a standard E27 bulb.
Design and materials of this globe floor lamp
Everything rests on the contrast between a line and a sphere. The metal alloy frame, gold-plated, rises straight up from a round base. At the top, the finely ribbed white opal glass globe forms a slightly flattened ball that keeps its porcelain look even when off. The opal glass filters the bulb: you cannot make it out, you only see an even volume of light. As an orb floor lamp, its restraint makes it an object that structures a room without crowding it. It pairs with linen, light wood, travertine and sand tones, and goes well with a pendant or table lamp from the same opal glass family.
The light
The E27 base takes a standard bulb, up to 40 W, not included. Choose a 2700 K warm white LED for the mood of late afternoon; 3000 K is better for a desk corner. The lamp is not dimmable: to adjust the mood, play with the bulb wattage. The opal globe spreads light in every direction, up and down, lighting the ceiling as much as the floor.
Where to put a ball floor lamp
In the living room, set it at the corner of a sofa, 12 to 16 in (30 to 40 cm) from the armrest: the globe ends up above shoulder height and lights your reading without glare. In a home office, it complements a task lamp and softens the screen in the evening. In a bedroom, placed in a free corner, it replaces a ceiling light that is too stark. As a modern gold floor lamp, it gains from a light rug and matte materials. More silhouettes are gathered in our floor lamps.

Size and installation

- Lit area: about 55 to 110 sq ft (5 to 10 m²).
- Switch: rotary.
The lamp plugs into a standard 220 V wall outlet. Screw in the bulb before fitting the globe, handling the glass with both hands, then check that it is held securely. Set it on a level floor, out of walkways, and run the cord along a wall or under a rug so no one trips over it.
Care
Unplug the lamp and let the bulb cool. Dust the frame with a soft, dry cloth. Clean the globe with warm soapy water or glass cleaner, then dry it right away to avoid streaks. Put it back only when it is completely dry.

My daughter has a small bedroom in her first flat and no overhead light worth using. This lamp in the corner made the room feel so much warmer. She loves how the glass looks.

We have a japandi-ish living room, lots of light wood, a sand coloured sofa and a jute rug, and I'd been looking for a floor lamp that didn't look like it came from an office. This one fits right in. The globe is a slightly flattened ball with fine ribs, and the gold stem is so slim it almost disappears against the wall. I placed it about 35 cm from the arm of the sofa like the listing recommends and the globe sits just above my shoulder when I'm reading, no glare at all. The light spreads everywhere, so the ceiling gets a soft wash too, which makes our room feel taller. I put in a warm white LED bulb. The switch is a simple twist. It's not a lamp for lighting a huge room, more for a cosy corner, and that's exactly what I wanted. Lots of compliments already.

Matches our opal glass pendant over the table perfectly. The whole room feels pulled together now, and the gold stem brings a bit of warmth.

I've been decorating our living room bit by bit for about a year and lighting was the last thing to sort. I wanted something warm and soft, but I also wanted it to look like an object rather than just a lamp. This one manages both. The white opal globe has subtle ribs that make it look a bit like porcelain during the day, and in the evening it glows evenly without any bright spot. You honestly can't tell where the bulb is. The gold-plated stem is very slim and the round base sits flat and steady on our floorboards. I followed the advice and put it 30 to 40 cm from the arm of the couch, and it's a lovely height for reading. Fitting the bulb and globe took a few minutes. I used a warm white LED. If you want a lamp to light a whole big room, this isn't it, but for a seating corner it's perfect.

Lovely, just not dimmable
The lamp looks fantastic in our living room, the glass globe and gold stem combination is very classy. The description does say clearly that it isn't dimmable, and the switch is a simple rotary one, but I'd hoped to tone it down for film nights. I swapped to a lower wattage bulb and it's fine now. Great quality otherwise, stable on the floor, and the glass is spotless.White opal globe

Sits at the corner of our sofa and lights up the whole reading area so softly. You can't see the bulb at all through the glass, just an even white glow. The gold stem is thin and elegant.

We had a dark corner in the bedroom where the ceiling light never quite reached. This lamp fixed it. I chose a warm white LED bulb and now we use it most evenings instead of the overhead light, it's much easier on the eyes before bed. The gold is warm rather than yellow and goes with our gold picture frames. Good height too, the globe sits well above the bedside table.

Lovely, plan your bulb
Gorgeous lamp. Just know the bulb isn't included and it takes E27 up to 40 W. I had to go and buy one before I could enjoy it.White opal globe

The ribbed glass is so pretty in person. I put it next to my desk in the spare room and it takes the edge off the screen in the evenings, really cosy.

Bought this for our new flat and it's the first thing guests comment on. I was careful when fitting the globe, held it with both hands as the instructions say, and it went on easily. The light is warm and even and you can't see the bulb at all, just a glowing ball. We have it by the couch and it's turned that corner into my favorite spot in the place.

Lovely lamp for our snug. The opal glass hides the bulb completely so you just get this warm soft ball of light. Put together in minutes and very stable.

Pretty, just smaller glow than expected
This lamp is lovely to look at. We put it in the living room and it's become a bit of a talking point, the round opal globe on that thin gold stem looks almost like a sculpture. The light is soft and even, no hot spot, and it lights both the ceiling and the floor around it. Where I went slightly wrong was expecting it to light our whole open plan lounge. The listing does say it suits roughly 5 to 10 square meters, and our room is a lot bigger than that. So it's more of a cosy corner light than a main light for us, which is fine, we've added a table lamp on the other side. Four stars because I'd misjudged it, not because of the lamp, which is lovely. Assembly was quick and easy.White opal globe

Thank you Mei, that's a really helpful note for anyone with a larger room. Pairing it with a table lamp sounds like a lovely balance.

Calm and sculptural
I wanted something for our living room that looked good even switched off, and this does. The ribbed opal glass has an almost porcelain look in the daytime. At night it glows evenly, lights the ceiling as well as the floor, and the whole corner feels warmer. I used a 2700K bulb as the description suggests and it's the perfect late afternoon color. Assembly took five minutes, just be careful with the globe.White opal globe

Really nice lamp. The globe is smooth glass with these subtle ribs that catch the light, and the gold stem looks expensive. Only four stars because there's no bulb in the box, so it sat unlit for a day until I got to the shop. It does say not included in the description, so I can't really complain. It lights our reading corner nicely.

Wife's choice, my approval
My wife chose this for the corner by the armchair and I'll admit I wasn't sure about a glass ball on a thin pole. I was wrong. It looks really refined, and the light it gives off is soft enough for TV but still fine for reading the paper. The stem feels solid and it stands steady on our wooden floor. You need your own E27 bulb, we had one spare.White opal globe

My reading nook needed a lamp. The white glass gives a soft milky light that's perfect for winding down, and it looks really elegant in the corner.

We moved into a new build with very harsh ceiling lights, the kind that make everything look flat and cold at night. I've been slowly adding lamps to make it feel like home, and this was the first floor lamp I bought. It's in the living room, at the corner of the couch, and in the evenings we switch off the ceiling lights completely and just use this and a table lamp. The opal glass spreads the light in every direction, so the ceiling gets a soft glow too, which makes the room feel more relaxed. The gold stem is slim and the globe has these fine ribs that look lovely even when it's off. I fitted a 2700K LED bulb as suggested and it's a perfect warm color. Setting it up was simple: screw in the bulb, put the globe on carefully with both hands, done. I'm planning to get a second one for the bedroom.

Gorgeous lamp, but I hadn't clocked that it isn't dimmable, which is clearly written on the page. I'm used to turning everything down in the evening. I've switched to a lower wattage bulb as suggested and that helps. The glass and gold together still look stunning in our lounge, so it stays.

Thanks for the honest review, Ariana. A lower wattage bulb is a good fix for a softer evening mood, and we're glad the lamp is staying.

Solid buy

Beautiful lamp, rough delivery
I want to be fair to the lamp, because it is beautiful. The opal glass is lovely and smooth, the gold stem is sleek, and once it was set up in our bedroom corner it gave off exactly the soft, even glow I'd been hoping for. My problem was entirely with the delivery. It was meant to arrive within the week and ended up taking much longer, with the tracking stuck on the same status for days. When it did arrive, the outer box had clearly been dropped at some point and one side was caved in. I was dreading opening it because of the glass globe, but it was packed well enough that everything inside was intact. So, a great product, but the shipping experience was stressful, and that's why I've given three stars. I'd still recommend the lamp itself.White opal globe
Opalyne replied
Thank you for being so fair, Annabelle, and we're truly sorry the delivery was so stressful. We're relieved the globe arrived intact and that the lamp is glowing just as you'd hoped.
