This black rectangle mirror, 20 × 28 in (50 × 70 cm), frames the reflection with a slim band of dark wood, clean and even. On the wall, it works like a picture frame: it cuts a piece of light out of the room and gives a clear line to a bare wall. It suits anyone who loves graphic, japandi or warm modern interiors and wants a versatile mirror, as right above a dresser as in a narrow entryway or a small bathroom.
Black rectangle mirror: design and materials
The frame is black-stained wood, with no molding or ornament. That restraint is its strength: the dark outline sets off the reflection and gives it depth, especially facing a window. On a white or very light gray wall, the contrast is sharp and architectural. On terracotta plaster or sage green, the black turns softer, almost warm. This black mirror rectangle pairs with black metal hardware, slim-framed light fixtures and light oak furniture, which it punctuates. Where to put it

It hangs on the wall with hardware suited to your surface. Have a drill, anchors chosen for your wall (solid, hollow brick or drywall) and a level. On a lightweight partition, use drywall anchors rated for this load. Set the center of the mirror around 59 to 63 in (150 to 160 cm) off the floor for everyday use. Above furniture, leave 6 to 10 in (15 to 25 cm) between the top and the bottom of the frame.
Care
Clean the glass with a microfiber cloth lightly dampened with clean water or a mild glass cleaner, applied to the cloth and never directly on the mirror. For the wood frame, a dry cloth is enough. Avoid standing water on the edges and abrasive products that could mark the black stain.

I'm 71 and redecorating the spare room for when the grandchildren stay. Exactly the mirror I'd been hunting for
Quick background: I've spent the last year doing up a two-bed terrace on a budget, and the mirrors were the last thing on the list because every one I liked was either ornate, round or massive. I wanted a plain black rectangle in a sensible size for the bedroom and this ticked every box. The frame is wood stained black, slim and flat, with corners that meet cleanly. We bought a 1930s house with a long, dark entrance hall and the first thing I wanted was a mirror to stop it feeling like a tunnel. I didn't want anything that fought with the original door and the black and white floor tiles, so a simple black frame made sense. It's 50 x 70, which sounds modest, but on that wall above a slim console it looks proportionate and doesn't block the walkway. Lovely, but give delivery some time
I'll start with the mirror because that's what matters: it's beautiful in a very understated way. The frame is narrow and black stained, the wood grain shows a little bit when the light hits it, and there are no fussy edges. I hung it in my bedroom above a white dresser with a stack of books and a lamp beside it and it's the first thing you notice when you walk in. The glass is clear, no distortion. I'm an amateur decorator at best but I do spend a lot of time looking at rooms online, and the thing I kept noticing in the ones I liked was one strong dark element on a pale wall. So I went looking for a black rectangle mirror that wasn't huge and wasn't plastic. This one is wood, stained black, and the band is slim enough that it doesn't feel heavy. I hung it in the hallway at about 155 cm to the center, which the page recommends, and it's honestly right for both me and my much taller other half. We used two screws and the anchors for drywall. Delivery was fine, packed in a double box with corner guards. My only advice would be to repeat black somewhere else in the room, like the page says.
