rechargeable-pleated-table-lamp
Rechargeable Table Lamp, Wood-Look Base, Pleated Shade

This rechargeable table lamp pairs a pale wood-tone base with a pleated fabric shade that has a retro feel. It runs cordless on a USB-rechargeable battery, so it goes on a nightstand, a desk or a dinner table without hunting for an outlet. One touch turns it on, another sets the brightness. Its soft light filters through the folds of the fabric and sets an end-of-day mood. It suits warm interiors and anyone who likes to move their light around.

Design and materials

The base has a pale wood tone that brings the warmth of a natural material with the lightness of a portable piece. Please note that the body is synthetic: it is a wood look, not solid wood. The pleated fabric shade recalls 1970s lamps and spreads light both up and down. The contrast between the regular pleats and the smooth base gives a soft outline that fits a japandi, boho or farmhouse room. As a pleated table lamp on the nightstand, it goes well with washed linen bedding.

Size and installation of this rechargeable table lamp

Power: built-in 1800 mAh battery.

Charging: by USB cable.

Package weight: about 1.9 lb (845 g).

No installation is needed: charge the battery over USB, then set the lamp wherever you like. It charges from a USB wall adapter or a computer port. With no cord in use, it suits tables far from outlets, shelves or the middle of a table, which is what people look for in rechargeable cordless table lamps. Place it on a flat, stable surface, away from splashing water. Recharge it before the battery is completely flat to extend its life.

The light

The source is an included LED of 5 W maximum that gives off very little heat. The touch switch dims smoothly, without steps, and the lamp offers three white tones. Choose warm white for the bedroom and the living room in the evening, neutral white for reading or working at a desk. At low brightness, the pleated shade makes a discreet night light. The light stays soft: this is ambient and accent lighting, not a main light.

Where to put it

On a 16 to 20 in (40 to 50 cm) nightstand, it leaves room for a book and a glass of water. In a living room, set one on a sideboard or a shelf for a low point of light, warmer than a ceiling fixture. In the middle of a dinner table, this cordless lamp with shade stands in for a flameless candle. It goes with rattan, linen and matte ceramic. Dust the pleated shade with a soft brush or a wide paintbrush, following the pleats. Wipe the base with a dry or barely damp cloth.
